Modern Carpet Cleaning Procedures for Residue Free Carpets

Carpet ExtractionOne of the problems in using carpet shampoo or detergent to clean carpets, rugs, and upholstery fabric is the difficulty with removing the carpet shampoo residue sufficiently. The carpet shampoo residue tends to make the fabric susceptible to soiling after it has been cleaned, possibly due to an undesirable wicking effect of the carpet shampoo residue on the fibers of the fabric. In addition, if the fibers are left with a pH that is too alkaline, browning or discoloration of the fibers may occur.

First Method:

Most carpet manufacturers’ cleaning recommendations state that the carpet should be sprayed using a Pre-Spray & Traffic Lane Cleaner, or an extraction product onto the carpet, allowing the chemical to dwell for 3-5 minutes to emulsify the greasy soil and dirt. Then follow up by diluting Rinse & Neutralizer in the water tank of your carpet extractor at 2-3 oz. per gallon of water. Extract carpets as you would normally clean.

Second Method:

Dilute Rinse & Neutralizer in a sprayer at a 2-3 oz. per gallon ratio, (2:1) or (3:1), and lightly mist over the previously cleaned carpet, allowing to dry simultaneously.

Third Method:
To remove chemical build-up on extremely soiled carpets, dilute Rinse & Neutralizer in a carpet extractor at 2-3 oz. per gallon of water, (2:1) or (3:1), and rinse the carpet before extraction, shampooing, or bonnet buffing. Always test an inconspicuous area to determine colorfastness.

Added Bonus:
Carpet ExtractionWhatever method you choose to implement, we ALWAYS recommend the use of an Air Mover/Carpet Dryer to aid in drying the carpet. No matter how good the carpet looks after you clean it, if it doesn’t dry fast enough you might experience carpet shading or discoloration. In many cases, this can be reduced or eliminated by using an air mover—the faster you dry the carpet, the better.

“Fast drying” is consistently ranked among the most important parts of carpet cleaning by consumers.

Remember, carpets dry from the bottom up!

Benefits:
By using the Carpet Rinse Neutralizer through the extraction machine, it prevents the jets from clogging which could cause streaking during extraction.
